A fireplace can add elegance, style and even a cozy feeling to most any room. Whether your fireplace is traditional or classic – contemporary or country – there’s nothing quite like the warm glow of a fireplace to increase the character of your room. Over time, your fireplace may benefit from an update or a change of style as the décor of your room changes. Whether you have a gas fireplace or a wood burning fireplace, you can enjoy clean and effective heat from your fireplace when you use the proper type of logs.
Gas logs for your wood fireplace
If you are tired of worrying about the mess and the inconvenience of finding wood for your wood burning fireplace, you may be able to turn it into a gas fireplace by purchasing gas logs. Gas logs are not to be used in a gas fireplace.
Vented gas logs.
Vented gas logs can be installed in most wood burning fireplaces. This type of gas log must be burned in a fireplace that has an open vent. They can also be used in outdoor fireplaces as well as firepits that meet local building codes. They must be used only in a fireplace with an opened vent.
Ventless gas logs.
This type of gas log can be burned in a wood-burning fireplace with a closed vent. They cannot be placed in a gas fireplace – wood burning only. Be sure to check with your area’s building department to see if they are legal to use in your geographical area.
Styles of logs
Whether you have a wood burning fireplace or a gas fireplace, you are able to update its look by choosing a different style. There are many looks you can achieve by changing the style of the heat source for your fireplace:
For a contemporary look – and something very different from traditional logs, high-temperature glass will create a beautiful and glittering look for your room.
If you like the traditional look of logs – choose from the type of natural looking log to bring that warm and cozy look into your living space. The styles of logs you choose can give your fireplace a new ambiance you didn’t think possible. If homey and rustic fits into your décor – you will love looking at the variations of natural looking wood to add warmth to your room.
